What startup checks establish
Startup is the point where installed components are checked as a system. ENERGY STAR quality-installation material separates refrigerant measurements, electrical measurements, airflow tests, controls, and drainage into distinct checks. The relevant targets come from the selected equipment and installation instructions. Ask for recorded readings alongside the targets for your equipment.
Walk through the controls
The thermostat can call for heating, cooling and fan operation; a dual-fuel setup also coordinates heat-pump and furnace operation. Ask the installer to show you the normal modes on your thermostat and explain the settings that determine which heat source runs.
Find the parts you will touch
Locate the filter, write down its size, and watch how it is removed without disturbing nearby panels or pipes. Identify outdoor areas that need to remain clear and the shutoffs or disconnects the installer wants you to recognize. Do not open electrical or refrigerant compartments yourself.
Keep your system records together
Collect the final model numbers, equipment registration, warranty terms, thermostat information, and the installer’s service contact. Note any maintenance interval the manufacturer or installer specifies. This gives a future service technician the original configuration instead of requiring it to be reconstructed.
